The Hetrick Center's Sports Performance Training
Program is designed to help each athlete become optimally-trained for
his or her specific sport(s).
What
makes our program special?
We
offer the ONLY program that includes aquatic performance training,
which is utilized by well-respected rehabilitation centers and
professional sports teams worldwide! By combining our aquatic training
program with a specific land-based training program, we are able to
offer the premier training program for performance training. Our
program has been developed, and is supervised by highly educated and
trained Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist
Assistants, and Athletic Trainers. In conjunction with these experts,
our Massage Therapists and Nutritionists join the team to make our
program even more unique and qualified.
How

Our
program benefits athletes by helping them perform their respective
sport specific skills at a higher level. The benefit comes from a solid
foundation and functional performance training base. Some of the
benefits of our program include: increased speed, better agility,
improved power, increased strength, enhanced coordination, superior
endurance/conditioning, balanced nutritional habits, reduces injuries,
and more! Athletes with health concerns, such as diabetes or asthma,
are able to participate in the program with their physcian's approval
and we would closely monitor their condition throughout the program.
Each athlete will have a solid performance training base that will put
them head and shoulders above their competition!
What
can you expect from us?
On
your first visit, you will undergo a functional examination. As part of
this process, you will be asked to list your goals for the functional
sports performance training program. From the gathered information, a
program will be specifically designed for you to meet your individual
goals utilizing our different services. The individualized program will
initially focus on improving your cardiovascular fitness, muscular
endurance, flexibility, balance, and core strength. During the initial
phases, you can also expect to learn the principles of basic nutrition.
Once you have developed these solid performance training elements, our
program is designed to build upon them. We will then begin to focus on
your muscle memory, power, speed, agility, and proprioception. You will
then begin to incorporate more sport specific nutrition into the daily
routine.
All
training occurs in a clinical setting. Athletes wear monitors that
record real time performance data. When this data is downloaded into a
computerized program, we are able to analyze specific performance
improvement measurements of the individual athlete's progress. Upon
completion of the program, you will undergo another functional
examination. This gives us the opportunity to assess your objective
improvement throughout the program. Our functional examinations help us
assess your functional movements, functional performance, sports
specific skills and more.
Aquatic Program Overview:
The first day of training consists of a
preliminary functional test used to determine baseline levels of
cardiovascular fitness, endurance, speed, agility and core strength.
Then, the athlete learns the specific techniques needed to train in an
aquatic environment.
- Throughout the next six weeks, the athlete will
complete two 30-minute training periods each week. Each session will
progressively get more intense as we push the athletes to advance
through the program. During these training sessions, the athletes wear
a heart rate monitor to ensure that they are staying at the correct
training heart rate level and to record their heart rate for analysis.
- Midway through the program, the athletes are
shown how to maximize game-day performance by improving their nutrition.
- At the end of the 6-week program, a final test
is administered to examine the progress the athlete has made throughout
the program. The Program Director meets with the athlete to highlight
their improvements and review their heart rate data.
