I grew up in Halifax, PA. I lived in California for about 5 years while going to school and then moved back to Pennsylvania. I live with a wonderful husband, 2 active boys, and 2 cats.

I graduated from chiropractic school in December of 2006. I worked with a chiropractor in California for about a year and then taught at the chiropractic school for another year before moving back to Pennsylvania and beginning with The Hetrick Center. I have been practicing for 18 years.
What inspired you to become a chiropractor?
I have always been involved in sports and thought I would go into the medical field, but never found the right occupation until I shadowed a chiropractor and loved how active chiropractors are with their jobs.
How long have you been with The Hetrick Center?
16 years.

What office do you work out of and what is your role there?
I am a chiropractor in the Mechanicsburg office.

I work with a lot of families with expecting mothers, spouses, and children.

What specific chiropractic techniques or approaches do you specialize in?
I am a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and am certified in the Webster Technique; a technique specific to adjusting pregnant women. I also utilize Diversified, Drop Table, Light force techniques with the Reflex Gun, and soft tissue techniques.

Are there any particular conditions or injuries you focus on treating?
Chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy is a specialty of mine. I also enjoy working with kiddos of any age.

How do you tailor treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient?
Every person is different and responds differently to different techniques. I try different techniques for that individual until we find one that works for them.

Can you share some success stories or positive outcomes you’ve seen in your practice?
I have had pregnant patients get through pregnancy with less pain, more mobility, and sometimes shorter, more comfortable labor. I have helped babies feel more comfortable with the early months of life. I have had patients tell me their sinuses are clearer, they sleep better, and they can move better after being adjusted.

Do you incorporate any holistic or wellness practices into your treatments?
I have some knowledge in supplementation and other wellness treatments and can refer to more qualified practitioners when needed.

What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
I love the relationships and friendships I build with patients. It truly feels like I am treating my family and friends!

How do you stay current with the latest chiropractic techniques and research?
Being a member of the ICPA, I receive emails and magazines with great updates on chiropractic in the prenatal and postpartum world as well as babies and kids. I prefer attending in-person seminars and try to get to 1-2 per year. I will be attending one next month on craniosacral therapy for babies and young children.

Can you explain how chiropractic care can benefit overall health and wellness?
Chiropractic has many benefits, but the most notable is increased spinal/joint motion affecting the nervous system. A better functioning nervous system can have vast benefits on your overall health and wellness to improve your quality of life.

What advice would you give to someone considering chiropractic care for the first time?
You will be amazed how good you can feel when your body is functioning better.

What is a common misconception about chiropractic care that you’d like to address?
I have had people say they were afraid to come see a chiropractor because they thought once they started they would have to continue to come forever. In no way do I force anyone to keep coming, but you will likely see how much better you feel after adjustments and will CHOOSE to come back because you DO feel better.

What do you do in your free time? Do you have any fun hobbies or interests?
I enjoy summer a lot. I go kayaking and swimming in the Juniata River with my family. My boys enjoy fishing, so I’m trying to learn to enjoy fishing. My boys are active in cross-country and soccer, so I LOVE to go watch them compete. I also like to be active and take various yoga and Pilates classes. My favorite right now is Hot Yoga/Pilates.
