
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?Β
My name is Christy Carroll and I grew up and live in Carlisle.
Where did you attend school and what degrees or certifications do you hold?Β
I attended Misericordia College (now University) and graduated with a Bachelorβs of Science and Masterβs of Physical Therapy.

23 years this month

What inspired you to become a physical therapist?Β
My aunt is a physical therapist and for as long as I can remember, I wanted to work in the medical field. I was able to secure an internship my senior year in high school at my auntβs PT clinic and I loved it.

What office do you work out of and what is your role there?Β
I work in Middletown and I am the Director of Physical Therapy. I am also a part of the leadership team.Β

What sets your practice apart from others in the area?Β
In addition to prescribing individualized exercises, we make sure to perform some kind of hands-on treatment with each patient. We also utilize HydroWorxβ pools to help our patients get better faster.

What specific physical therapy techniques or approaches do you specialize in?Β
I enjoy treating orthopedic injuries as well as post-surgical conditions. I am also certified in the McKenzie Method and treat Womenβs health issues such as incontinence and pelvic pain.

How do you tailor treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient?Β
After performing a comprehensive evaluation on each patient, I come up with exercises and hands-on techniques based upon each patientβs weaknesses, mobility deficits and functional impairments.

Can you share some success stories or positive outcomes youβve seen in your practice?Β
I have treated many patients over the years with many positive outcomes. I have successfully rehabbed athletes and gotten them back on the field, have improved the safety of elderly patients by working on their balance and strength, and have improved the quality of life of women (post-partum, elderly, teenagers) by improving their pelvic floor awareness and strength.

I enjoy helping each patient to achieve their individual goals.

How do you stay current with the latest techniques and research?Β
I take 30 credit hours of continuing education every 2 years and keep up to date with new research via the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA.)


Can you explain how physical therapy can benefit overall health and wellness?Β
PT isnβt just for rehabbing a sports injuryβitβs a whole-person approach to movement, function, and long-term health. In essence, physical therapy is preventive, restorative, and performance-enhancing. By optimizing the way you move today, you will set yourself up for healthier joints, a stronger heart, and a more active, fulfilling life tomorrow.

What advice would you give to someone considering physical therapy for the first time?Β
You will get stronger if you are consistent and put in the work.

What is a common misconception about physical therapy that you’d like to address?Β
βNo pain, No gainβ is not always the answer.

What do you do in your free time? Do you have any fun hobbies or interests?Β
I like to read, go to the pool in the summer, and spend time with family.
